Early Planning Begins for Potential SPCS Bond Project, #SPCSGoesFar

Springfield Platteview Community Schools is in the early planning stages of a potential school bond project that would support growth, safety, and long-term facility improvements across the district. While no official plans or decisions have been made, we are beginning to gather information, evaluate priorities, and engage with experts and the community.
We are currently gathering information from construction management companies to help guide this process. Bids have been received, but a final selection has not yet been made. The selected firm will help us refine our budget, identify needs, and determine what is realistically achievable within a potential bond.
Key early considerations include the construction of a new Springfield Platteview Elementary School on district-owned land at 72nd and Capehart Road in the Oak Leaf development area. With housing expanding rapidly in that region, a new school will be essential to meet future enrollment needs.
Additional goals include improvements to Platteview High School and Platteview Central, including expanding academic and CTE spaces, upgrading facilities, and addressing student safety. One major focus is improving the connection between PC and PHS, where students currently travel outdoors between buildings.
Community input will be vital throughout this process. Meetings and updates will be shared as planning continues. All images and ideas at this stage are preliminary.
Stay tuned for more information in the months ahead!
