Title IX Information

Title IX addresses discrimination on the basis of sex within educational institutions. Title IX states that no person in the United States shall on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

The district will notify applicants for admission and employment, students, parents or legal guardians of students, employees, and all unions or professional organizations holding collective bargaining or professional agreements with the district of the existence of this policy. The requirement to not discriminate, as stated in Title IX and 34 C.F.R. part 106, in the district’s education program(s) or activities extends to the district’s admission and employment, and inquiries about the application of Title IX and 34 C.F.R. part 106 to the district may be referred to the district’s Title IX coordinator, the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the United States Department of Education, or both.

Springfield Platteview Community Schools provides specialized training to administrators who make up the Title IX team. KSB Law provides training that is specific to each team member’s role.

The school district prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, and individuals may report concerns or questions to the Title IX Coordinator.

All students in grades K-12 are issued an Apple iPad. Students in grades 4-12 get an iPad case that includes an integrated keyboard, and they are allowed to take their devices home. Our K-3 students get standard cases, and their devices remain at school in charging carts when not being used.

Our teachers strive to excel at engaging their students by integrating technology in the classroom using the technology we provide. Participation in periodic professional development helps to enhance their skills and increase their own technical proficiency.

Springfield Platteview Community Schools does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates including in admission and employment. Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to the school district’s Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both.
