Community Connection: December News
Dear Springfield Platteview Community Schools Families,
As we approach the end of the semester and look ahead to winter break, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. The excitement among our students is palpable, and I want to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments and the many exciting things yet to come.
I am thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row, our district has been classified as an “Excellent” school district by the Nebraska Department of Education. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, students, and families. Please join me in thanking an educator today—they truly make a difference in our community.
This time of year is always filled with activity. At Platteview High School, our One Act team earned second place at the Trailblazer Conference, and our Esports team has excelled at the state level. Winter sports are now underway, and we’re gearing up for the Winter Concert this Thursday, which promises to be a wonderful event. At Westmont Elementary, students participated in a hands-on Science at the Sphere exhibit at Metropolitan Community College, learning about animal migration in an immersive way. At Springfield Elementary, the Turkey Bingo tradition was a huge success, with 10 turkeys and several pies given away to families. Our Springfield Platteview Community Choir also spread holiday cheer at local venues.
As we wrap up the semester, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our entire school community. I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve achieved together this year, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish in the months ahead. Wishing you a joyful and restful holiday season!
Warm Regards,
Ryan Saunders, Ed.D.
