Sent: February 20, 2025

Dear Springfield Platteview Families,

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for our area. As a result, Springfield Platteview Community Schools will operate on a two-hour late start tomorrow, February 21.

We understand that a delayed start can create challenges for some families, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility. Although the temperature will increase slightly, the additional time will allow our bus company to properly prepare our diesel buses for safe transportation.

Please note the following schedule adjustments:

  • Morning activities and practices are canceled.
  • No AM Preschool; afternoon preschool will run as scheduled.
  • Preschool Screening Appointments will take place as scheduled.
  • KidsCare will be available starting at 8:00 AM.

School Closed on February 20

Sent: February 19, 2025

Springfield Platteview Community Schools will be closed tomorrow, February 20 due to the National Weather Service having issued a Cold Weather Warning for Sarpy County until 9:00 AM tomorrow morning. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to levels that will impact our ability to provide safe and reliable transportation in the morning. While we anticipate the weather to warm quickly throughout the day, the timing will not allow for a late start.

  • We will continue to monitor the weather and make a decision about practices and activities around mid-day tomorrow. Coaches and sponsors will provide further details.
  • KidsCare will be available for students on the Snow Day list from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Please know that the decision to close school is never made lightly. Before taking action, we carefully evaluate several factors, including the safety of our students and staff, road conditions for bus transportation, and the needs of our students—particularly those who rely on school for warmth, stability, and meals. We also consider the number of remaining snow days and consult with neighboring districts and the National Weather Service.

Please stay safe and take extra precautions in these conditions. Thank you for your patience. Please check back here for the latest updates.

Thank you.
