Bus Tracking App for Families: How to Get Started

Springfield Platteview Community Schools, in collaboration with our transportation partner, First Student, is launching First View®, a real-time GPS vehicle tracking and student transportation monitoring platform for SPCS bus families.

With First View, parents and caregivers can use a secure, easy-to-use mobile app to stay connected with their student’s daily bus trips.

What Can You Do with First View?

  • See the real-time location of your student’s bus via GPS and track its progress.
  • Access bus details and updates regarding changes.
  • Receive distance-based ETA notifications when the bus is getting close to your student’s stop.
  • Set up family members and caregivers to receive trip email alerts.
  • Access dedicated First View customer support for app-related questions.

Step 2: Create Your Account and Add Your Student

Families will need information provided directly by SPCS to register their student and assigned trips. Please refer to the email sent directly to SPCS bus families for the district-specific registration information needed to complete setup.

The SPCS District Code was sent directly to bus families in an email from the Administration Office on August 28. If you need the district code, please contact SPCScomm@spcsne.org.

You will also need your student’s:

  • First and last name
  • School of attendance
  • Assigned trip information

Important Information About SPCS Routes

Because SPCS has a Monday late-start schedule, parents may need to select multiple AM routes for their student — one for Monday late start and another for the Tuesday–Friday regular start schedule.

Students who ride different color routes in the afternoon may also need to select multiple PM routes.

Please make sure you add all assigned trips that apply to your student so you can accurately track transportation throughout the week.

For step-by-step instructions, please review the First View Parent Registration Guide.

Set Up Notifications

Once your student and routes are added, you can set up distance notifications to receive alerts when the bus is getting close to your student’s stop.

You can also add family members and caregivers as notification recipients to receive trip email alerts.

Once your student, routes and notifications are set up, you’re ready to begin tracking your student’s daily trips!
