How SPCS Communicates During Emergencies
When a situation impacts a school or the district, SPCS uses multiple communication channels to share updates as quickly as possible.

The SPCS website serves as the central location for the most current and complete information during an emergency.
What Families Should Expect
In some situations, information may be limited at first. This is done to protect student and staff safety and to allow first responders to do their work effectively.
As more information becomes available, updates will be shared as quickly as possible through official district communication channels.
Families are encouraged to rely on official SPCS updates and avoid spreading unconfirmed information.
What Families Should Do
- Watch for official communication from SPCS
- Avoid coming to the school unless directed to do so
- Keep phone lines open for emergency communication
- Follow any instructions provided by the district or emergency personnel
Understanding the Standard Response Protocol (SRP)
SPCS uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a nationally recognized safety system developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation. The SRP provides clear, consistent actions that help students, staff, and first responders respond effectively in a variety of situations.
The Five SRP Actions
- HOLD – In your room or area. Clear the halls.
- SECURE – Get inside. Lock outside doors.
- LOCKDOWN – Locks, Lights, Out of Sight.
- EVACUATE – Evacuate to a designated location.
- SHELTER – Shelter for a specific hazard, such as severe weather.
These actions are designed to be simple, consistent, and easy to follow so everyone can respond calmly and effectively.

Preparedness & Drills
SPCS schools conduct SRP drills throughout the year to help students and staff practice how to respond in different situations. These drills are designed to be age-appropriate, calm, and focused on building confidence and preparedness.
