Exploring Fingerprints and Microorganisms in 6th Grade Science

Mrs. Saunders’ Class Got Hands-On with Science!

Our 6th graders at Springfield Elementary recently dove into an exciting new science unit, kicking it off with a hands-on fingerprint lab in Mrs. Saunders’ class!

This fun and interactive lab had students exploring the unique patterns found in their own fingerprints while learning how genetics play a role in those differences. Even more fascinating? The connection to the microorganisms that live right on our skin!

The lab was part of the launch into a new unit focused on microorganisms and genetics. The students loved it! By combining real-world observations with key science concepts, Mrs. Saunders brought the subject to life in an unforgettable way.

Stay tuned to see what else our young scientists discovered as they explored the invisible world all around (and on!) us.
