Springfield Platteview Community Schools is excited to continue building connections through the TeamMates Mentoring Program, helping students develop confidence, encouragement, and meaningful relationships with caring adult mentors.

Families sometimes ask: Can my child still become a mentee? The answer is yes.

Who Can Be a Mentee?

Any student who wants a TeamMate can be considered for the program. Every student can benefit from having a positive adult connection and additional encouragement throughout their school journey.

How Does the Process Work?

SPCS uses an internal TeamMates Mentee Nomination Form that allows staff members to nominate students who may benefit from the program. Students can also self-nominate, and parents or guardians may express interest on behalf of their child.

Families interested in learning more or requesting a mentor for their child are encouraged to reach out to their building counselor, principal, or the district’s TeamMates coordinator directly.

As mentor availability grows, students are matched from the current waiting list based on program capacity and mentor availability.

Why TeamMates Matters

The TeamMates Mentoring Program has a strong track record of positively impacting students both academically and personally.

  • 95% of mentees graduate high school
  • 59% show academic improvement
  • 70% have fewer unexcused absences
  • 86% have fewer disciplinary referrals

Through weekly school-based meetings, mentors provide encouragement, support, and connection while helping students build confidence and recognize their strengths.

SPCS is proud to continue growing the TeamMates program and creating opportunities for students to build lasting, positive relationships.
