Westmont Elementary's “Food Fight” Food Drive Collects 3,035 Items
Westmont Elementary School’s Student Council wrapped up its annual “Food Fight” Food Drive last week, and our school community showed up in a big way, donating an incredible 3,035 items to support the Springfield Food Pantry.
Although the Food Fight is usually held in the spring, student leaders moved it up this year to help meet an immediate need in our community. Staff, students, and families rallied together, bringing in thousands of non-perishable foods, toiletries, and household essentials. Every classroom participated, making it a fun and meaningful competition from start to finish.
Daily prizes, class challenges, and the much-anticipated inflatable turkey costume brought plenty of excitement and lots of laughs throughout the week. Student Council members collected, counted, and announced totals each morning, keeping everyone motivated as the numbers grew.
At the end of the week, the grade level with the highest overall total earned a sweet celebration, and the entire school enjoyed the satisfaction of knowing their generosity will directly support families in need this holiday season.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your kindness and enthusiasm. Westmont proved once again that when we come together, we make a tremendous impact.
3,035 items donated. Countless lives touched. Way to go, Wildcats!
